This show is dedicated to encouraging you to step outside of your comfort zone and IN to your travel business - I'll show you how I did it and how you can too. Hit subscribe now and let's get into it.
In under 4 years, I went from being a home-based travel agent with zero clue how to make it work in the online world, to winning Mentor of the Year for Women In Travel helping our industry to build their digital influence.
There seems to be a few really BIG topics being discussed in the industry at the moment. Things feel hard because, they are hard!!
Lately, I’ve been tuning into talks around the pandemic, how people are currently working in their businesses, the heavy work load, constant disruption and heartache we are all still experiencing on the daily.
Even I’m feeling a little shook!
You already know that I am all about sharing perspectives, hello podcast host over here! 👋
But, when you have an audience (us) who are currently in a state of grief, needing answers, solid guidance, much needed direction and loads of love – sharing personal experiences for relatability purposes with zero attempt to offer context or solution-focussed approaches, gets you absolutely nowhere.
In fact, all it does is openly demonstrate that we are no better off than where we were when we first started in this mess almost 3 years ago.
Conversations like these, to me, actually do more damage than good.
We are still bleeding as an industry recovering from disaster, and yet we are capable of so much resilience as we travel agents are still here – after being told we’d be long gone way before the pandemic hit, we’re still here, serving and doing what we do.
Next week on 1st November, will mark 1 year since international borders opened for the first time in Australia for what felt like a lifetime.
‘After having been in active recovery mode for almost a year now, we need to be taking immediate action on strategies we can implement RIGHT NOW to sustain our travel businesses – not next year, or 5 years from now.’
So I decided to pitch it all to someone who shares an outsiders perspective on how we can do business better, help us with subtle changes to break the mould on our outdated industry and how to better enhance our client interactions in the middle of complete chaos.
Without further adieu… I introduce to you, wonder woman & business entrepreneur, Leanne Hughes.
Leanne is a high-performance business consultant, who combines her experience in marketing, with her education (and obsession) with Group Dynamics & Psychology, to help industry leaders create engaging everyday experiences.
In other words, Leanne gets to travel the world, sharing strategies on how to accelerate trust in business, drive change and get the best out of people by making them feel like they belong.
After sharing a few of the ‘big rocks’ and major ‘stuck’ points I have come across recently, we hit record and delved into them on this weeks episode of Unplug In Paradise: The Podcast.
Here’s a snapshot of the episode:
✈ The biggest competitive edge travel agents have right now is that we can save the consumer ‘time’ rather than being recognised for our individual assets and expertise in travel;
✈ How having an travel community is the key to building trust and building your travel brand;
✈ The trends of referral clientele is changing and what opportunities lie to evolve your database with aligned people who value you and your craft;
✈ Why being disruptive in the industry is our golden opportunity to stand out from the crowd.
And so much more!
This is episode is definitely enlightening! I could listen to Leanne chat all day long – so if you’re feeling stuck or in need of a fresh perspective – this is the perfect episode for you!
