Join Steph as she re-joins the podcasting world after a couple of month hiatus after launching the inaugural Travel Trend Summit and onboarding brand new students in the Travel Agent Runway community. She kicked off things with a star appearance at the CLIA Cruise 360 event in Brisbane and walked away with only one question – WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THIS?

Yes, I was among the 650 travel agents who attended the largest cruise conference in the southern hemisphere, only to realise that no-one… and I mean NO-ONE on that stage, for the entire 9 sessions mentioned anything about the importance and significance of having an online presence in the digital landscape to build, grow and refine your travel business.

Not one person.

Instead, providing *great* service, client lunches, tapping into local community groups, mail box drops and only posting client photos to their business social accounts due to lack of understanding and knowledge on how social media acts as a vital tool in business, were among the superior strategies shared on stage.

Talk about keeping us in the stone age!

Whilst the panel discussions continued, I closed my eyes and put myself in ‘listen only mode’.

Listening closely, without seeing ‘who’ was behind the mic, it became incredibly clear that we have been stuck on the repetitive loop for 30+ years. Stuck on the same boring strategies, same mundane concepts for growth and an evident fear of sharing their individual ‘fails’ & ‘success’ for how to stand out and be recognised for our individual expertise.

We are in the biggest silent crisis the travel industry as ever seen AND we need to get real if we want to get known.
