When we start out in our travel business, whether we’re building it from scratch, in the phase of re-launching or have been working in it for a while, we face the same struggles when it comes to family (and friends) not wanting to support us to achieve how wildest dreams?

Why though?

We literally spend so much time telling (okay – arguing!) with them about what it is that we do, how we make our money, yes we are like a Flight Centre, but not like a ‘flight centre’, your host agency has a trust account which means their money is protected and reassuring them that your over 5, 10, 20+ years in the industry, means that you know a thing or two about travel.

Serious question? Do you ever find it strange that a lot of the concerns, raised eyebrows and condescending questions always seems to come from those in your inner circle?

It’s sad.

It’s not good for our mental health.

It’s not good for our confidence.

And it sure as hell doesn’t make you feel very good about yourself.

So… how do we break away from the negativity that our nearest and dearest shove our way and find aligned people who actually WANT to see you grow, succeed, win the clients, get the money and be on holidays for more than half the year working abroad…. it’s the dream, right?

In this weeks podcast, I offer TWO solutions to helping you decide which path to take when building a solid street crew that hypes you up when your friends don’t support you in business.

Just like our incredible student pilots inside of our Travel Agent Runway community, always celebrating and motivating each other, it’s actually so inspiring. And I often wish I had this exact community to love on me when I first started my travel business.

And the best part is? We have the most diverse mix of travel brands on the journey with us as well!

Unlike a lot of other online communities for travel agents, we’re so lucky inside the TAR community that we embrace everyone’s knowledge, expertise and advice no matter which brand family you come from.

Absolutely ZERO ‘brand-rivalry-hate’ going on here, like, what even is up with that?

If we were to mix all the colours of our travel brands in a tin – the reds with the blues, add in some green, pink, yellow, purple and black – together we’d have a pretty wild looking rainbow 🌈 but in my eyes, that is pure perfection!

In short: if you’re feel lonely in your business and not sure who to turn too, I want to let you know that there is hope on the horizon, your biggest cheerleader is out there somewhere, waiting to meet you – so don’t wait another second before you decide to go out and find him/her.

Or maybe you’ve found someone you click with, but you’re looking to add to your cheerleading posse’. That’s great – but make sure you’re keeping an open mind and never stop the search, you may be pleasantly surprised with who you connect with.
